UX/UI DESIGN

two mobile screens of bizzy market app

Description

This project, developed as part of a Master’s degree in New Media and Web Practices, focuses on creating a mobile application that promotes Portuguese local products. The app serves as a digital marketplace connecting small local producers with consumers, enhancing visibility and accessibility for traditional and artisanal goods.

Goals

By bridging the gap between small-scale producers and modern consumers, this project aims to strengthen local economies, support family-owned businesses, and ensure the survival of traditional Portuguese crafts and food products. This project not only provides an efficient digital storefront for producers but also educates users on the cultural significance and sustainable benefits of buying local.

Analysis

To understand the needs of both local producers and consumers, we conducted a comprehensive research phase. This included questionnaires to gather direct feedback from potential users, free research on e-commerce trends and local product markets, and an in-depth study of sustainability practices. The insights gained from this research helped us identify key pain points, such as visibility challenges for small businesses and the demand for an intuitive shopping experience. These findings served as the foundation for defining our personas and shaping the core functionalities of the app.

Personas

Based on our research, we identified key user groups for the app: local producers seeking better visibility and sales opportunities, and conscious consumers looking for authentic, high-quality Portuguese products. Understanding their needs, challenges, and behaviors helped shape the app’s features, ensuring an engaging experience for both sides.
