I own a vacation rental house and due to its location, I have gotten many booking requests. By the end of the year, and after many of in-person reviews on the house, I forgot to note down most of the comments that were suposed to help me improve the apartment because I was working overhours. I got some of the reviews back by asking the visitors via email one more time, but others did not want to be bothered again for review details. That's how the idea of a review management app came to me - I needed an app to assist me with gathering all reviews on the same platform, and needed my guests to be able to comment on the house in any part of the stay.
My role as a UX/UI designer was to search if the need for this app was something that felt personal only, or if there was a need for it in the current market. So I created a google form and sent it to specific groups for vacation rentals. Key results were the following:
🧪Analysis
Review data and engage in Competitive Audit
🖼️Wireframes
Design paper wireframes for the application
✏️Lo-fi
Design from wireframes and choose assets
🎨First Prototype
Develop a prototype for users to test it
The app is not a final product but it's prototype was tested by 5 different persons. These participants work in the rentals industry. Most participants find the app useful when it comes to gathering all of external reviews in only one platform. Three of the participants disclosed that they already use CRM platforms for this matter but would like to have a free version as this one. One participant said "that they would use the app if it had more features in it as the CRM platfrom they use in the moment" and gave the example of a financial feature that would allow to refund visitors with proven bad reviews.
